Brief details of previously sold Gypsy Jazz/Maccaferri/Selmer/Django type Guitars - see "VTG AVAILABLE" listings, in the Gypsy Jazz section, for similar available guitars or contact me.
As with other VTG Archive pages, the guitars shown here reflect my likes & interests in terms of vintage guitars, particularly all types of Jazz & Blues Guitars.

At the moment, the guitars I have sold of this type range from one of the really nice Japanese made CSL models from thw 1970s, to modern repro & range prototype models from the Far East, but I hope to handle Maccaferri type guitars a little more often, and indeed have another 1970s specimen in the workshop, but this time a classic model, by a well-known and still currently working luthier, which oone of these days, I hope not too far ahead, I look forward to making available.
Here are some, not all, of the Gypsy Jazz Guitars I have sold in recent times - in some cases other examples of the same models may be currently available, or at least "in the workshop". Please enquire for current availability, prices and further details.

2013 SALES:

*** SOLD *** CSL "The Gypsy" MAC 2S VINTAGE 1970s MIJ SELMER-MACCAFERRI DJANGO GYPSY JAZZ GUITAR w/ORIG. CSL CASE - "Transitional Model" Petite Bouche/Oval Soundhole, but 640mm. Scale Minimal restoration I carried out included purpose making new Top section for floating bridge following damage to the original by previous ill-advised attempt to install a pickup - collected by buyer from Northants. - 131105 - VTG1414 - Photo #3.
All guitars are prepared to the same high standards as the scores of other vintage and modern guitars, which I have restored/sold over the years.

The concentration is on structural soundness and playability, rather than any cosmetic touching-up, and certainly no ill-advised refinishing, but of course the guitars are sympathetically cleaned, setup and re-strung, as part restoration.

For availability and individual details on the various guitars, and the restoration work being done on them, please do contact me by email or telephone.
Action, strings & cases
I set out to achieve a 12th. fret action of around 3mm. to 3.5mm. on Resonator guitars, but each guitar is setup for correct playability, and for Lap Slide playing, the action can be readily raised using a Nut Riser costing only a few pounds.

I fit Martin Bronze Light 12 Gauge Strings as standard on most Acoustics, where appropriate, but happy to fit other string types/gauges to buyer's choice, but have used Newtone & other specialised strings on Gypsy Jazz guitars.

The guitars sometimes do not come with cases, although some do have older type but sturdy cases. Alternatively, I may be able to offer a suitable size Hiscox Liteflite hardshell case, offering infinitely better protection. Additional case prices available on request.

**** YOUTUBE ****

I did find this one clip of a 1970s CSL Gypsy Guitar on YouTube and have embedded it here...from "CaravanGuitars", although this is of the D-hole type, which is apparently the more common type of CSL.

"Useful Clips" #1 & 2 are more about two of my favourite guitarists in this field, Paul Vernon Chester & Nick Mellor, rather than the actual guitars guitars I have sold...just a couple of the clips, there are many more!
